DERMASCAN 2010

SKIN ASSESSMENT WITH THE CORTEX ULTRASONIC DERMASCAN

In the beauty salon, the skin-therapist can objectively quantify solar and dermal aging prior to skin rejuvenation therapy. Cortex Technology Denmark, market an effective, non-invasive, high frequency ultrasound imaging device. The Dermascan can be used to diagnose skin-aging and to measure skin and dermal improvement after the application of cosmeceuticals. The Dermascan is in use in South Africa for skin-disorders and follow-up treatment with vitamin-A containing cosmetic creams such as Beaute Pacifique ( Anti-wrinkle creme, Creme Metamorphique) and Environ. The Dermascan only takes a few minutes to use, is convenient and is safe and effective. The Dermascan provides additional useful information apart from the FitzPatrick burn-type skin classification. Quantification and efficacy of cosmetic skin treatment is possible with the Cortex Dermascan.

The following Dermascan images and print-out exmples are derived from salon clients presenting with solar-induced aging of the face in the Cape Town area where UVA and UVB skin irradiation by sunlight is prevalent.
